Q. Where can I get in touch with other underwater photographers who use the same gear I do?
A. Our site does not offer a blog, chat room or forum because there are already many very good websites that do this. Our favorites are Wetpixel.com and Digideep.com as they both are very professional, well run and friendly. They are both very good at sticking to the topic so in most cases you can get straight answers to your photo questions, enter contests and read equipment reviews. ScubaBoard.com also has an underwater photography section. There is also an email list group for underwater photography. To subscribe, send an email to majordomo@world.std.com with the following in the BODY: subscribe uw-photo [and your email address]. Then sit back and be prepared to be get a lot of emails from all over the world.
Another great resource is for general information about underwater photography is UWPMag.com. This is an underwater photography magazine that is free to download (PDF format). Its published monthly.
Also check if there are any underwater photography society groups established in your area. They typically meet monthly and most members are great about sharing their knowledge.
Q. I have camera type xxx. What kind of housing should I buy?
A. If you're looking for a housing for a particular kind of camera, we really can't help you because we just don't have the hands-on knowledge to make that kind of recommendation. Your best bet is to go to DigiDeep.com. This is a wonderful web site that provides great information about what housings are available for specific camera models.
Q. Where can I get parts for my Sea & Sea camera/housing?
A. Its surprising, but we get this question a lot. The Sea & Sea web sites are the place to go for this info. If you don't find it there, please contact Sea & Sea.
Q. Are the courses available in a printed version or on CD ROM?
A. The courses are available only online and cannot be put on CD ROM due to the many server side actions involved in the building of each of the pages. We have also made the decision to not offer the course in a printed version, as the costs would be astronomical and the benefits to you as a student would be minimal. Every course offers numerous examples and links, and some include QuickTime movies that could not be translated to print. In addition, much of the information in these courses changes very quickly and will be updated online to stay current. Offering the courses in any type of hard copy format would quickly become outdated and less useful.
Q. I've forgotten my password. How do I retrieve it?
A. At any time you can access the Account Manager from the login page. Upon request, you will immediately be sent your user name and password by email. You must use the same email address that you used when you enrolled. If this doesn't work for you, then you can contact us by email and we can retrieve the information, however, the human response will be much slower.
Q. I've changed my email address. How do I update what you have on file for me?
A. This also can be done with the Account Manager. It is important that we have a current email address for you so we can inform you when your subscription is about to expire, so you can take advantage of current member discounts. Simply login to your account with your user name and password to access your account.
